Change is in the wind. I can feel it in the crunch underfoot as droughty
leaves crisp and fall a few weeks early here in Southern Indiana. I can
smell it in the dust, on dry, still-warm breezes that waft through
unmistakable autumn air. Leaf mold, sweet grass, school books, fermenting
apples. I hear it in the distant drum cadence as marching bands practice
in late afternoon squad lines; imagine them aslant and sweaty in long
shadow. I taste spice in the smoke from late-summer barbeques, enjoy a
bounty of summer vegatables, last blooms, fresh cider…

Women Writing for (a)Change of Bloomington is experiencing an abundant
"harvest" (in spite of the worrisome drought in these parts) with expanding
classes of women (and men in co-ed offerings) committed to their own writing and the creation of a community that supports what it takes to lead a consciously creative life. This comes after three years of sowing seeds of
growth and change in the community and, I believe, is a result of people
seeing (in magical AND practical ways) that once they begin to take their
own words and writing life seriously, change happens. It is slow but sure.
It's an exciting thing to be a part of and watch unfold.

We're adding workshops, samplers, a winter retreat and more in response to the mounting number of requests for program development.
