If you’ve never had a chance to visit St. Mary–of-the-Woods College and the Sisters of Providence outside of Terre Haute, Indiana, I’d urge you to consider a visit some time. We’ve just returned from the annual WWF(a)C of Bloomington summer retreat, two days of quiet and community, retreat and rejuvenation, writing and sharing and—speaking for myself—the greening of my spirit in that restful place. We explored right-brain territory, dreaming and “true nature” and for some, unlocked new pathways in to our creative sources. You’d always be welcome at one of these group retreats, but I’d recommend that you go there on your own private retreat some day too.

Summer is generally a quiet time for WWF(a)C of Bloomington. Women who meet in class throughout the school year form informal small groups during the summer to keep their writing and practice alive. We go to our gardens, the woods, the swimming pool and fight summertime inertia in our indoor jobs. I offer a few sample classes and this summer have been on a search for a more permanent new home for the project. We are close to having news in that department. I’ll wait to make the announcement for fear of jinxing any outcome. But we WILL have news by the end of July.

Our outreach at the Monroe County Jail is alive and well and early efforts are underway to partner with Amethyst House to form writing circles for
